"But the goal of our instruction is love from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith." -- 1 Timothy 1:5 (NASB)

The last three years have been challenging for us.  We've faced the loss of Robert's job, the loss of our business, Janice returning to work full time after years of being home with the kids, both children going away to college, adjusting to the empty nest, the death of Janice's father, Robert's mother having a stroke, and then a flooded house.  If you had scored us on a stress level test, we'd have been off the chart!  Sometimes it seemed like we were just bouncing from one crisis to the next like a pinball.  We were so used to being on the giving end that it was a real lesson in humility to be the one in need.  However, through it all, our church family has loved us with a pure heart and has been an anchor of sincere faith for us.

God's love has reigned supreme throughout these trying times.  During our recent flood recovery, his love has been manifested through actions as small as friends bringing Sonic "Route 44" drinks to us, or actions as large as family and church members and even strangers spending all day ripping out sheetrock with us.  This has strengthened our faith and increased our love for God, our church family, and others.

Sometimes you are fortunate enough to experience God's love through others serving you as they honor God.  Sometimes you are blessed and experience God's love by serving others as you honor God.

We encourage you to "show true love" right now to someone you know that's in need.  Pick up the phone, send an email or text, take someone a Coke, or pay their water bill.  Show true love to God by joyfully giving to update His house.  Be an instrument of God's love through your actions, no matter how insignificant they seem to you.

Father, help us be more aware of how You are blessing our lives through other people.  Use us to bless those around us.  Amen.
