Day 2 Devotional (Week 4)

"Do not owe anyone anything, except to love one another, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law." -- Romans 13:8
As I considered this verse and my life, I realized God had some memories for me to think about.
I began to reflect on the heartache, sorrow, loneliness, and pain in my life. I realized what and where God had led me through in the past years. I was burdened and heavy hearted, and a dark cloud hung over my head. Then while
teaching in Lake Worth, the Lord led me through a program called, The Fish Philosophy. Their philosophy consists of four statements: Be there, Make their day, Play, and Choose your attitude. God placed a question in my mind: What does it
mean, choose your attitude?
He began to show me verses in His word of love and forgiveness. I began to pray, "Lord, change me. Change me to the loving person You created me to be." As I prayed for people I considered my enemies, I began to feel their
pain and forgot my own. My focus was on them, not me. There was a peace that overcame my soul that is beyond comprehension. There was a love for others that cannot be contained.
Then God reminded me of Matthew 22:36-39, first, "Love the Lord your God, with all your soul, heart, and mind;" second, "Love your neighbor as yourself." I should owe no one anything other than my love.
Yes, I have had many heartaches, sorrows, and pains in my life, but through each of them God has proven to me that to be obedient is to be content, to be content is to put others first, and to put others first is to have love beyond all
understanding.
Father, thank You for sending Your Son that I might know the meaning of true love. Continue to change me, Lord, to the loving person You created me to be. Amen.
