"Stick to It"
by Tom Goodman
June 1, 2006

In 1965 Gary Duschl began pursuing his life passion of building a record-breaking chain of gum wrappers.  Stretching 42,908 feet, his chain is now the world's longest according the Guinness Book of World Records.  Over 8 miles long, his chain weighs 588 pounds.

Does he chew all the gum himself?  "For me to have chewed all this gum,'' Duschl said, reeling off a statistic he's used many times before, "I'd have had to put a stick in my mouth every 20 minutes day and night for the last 38 years.''

Responding to his 33-year regimen of using only Spearmint, Doublemint, and Juicy Fruit wrappers, Wrigley Corporation's president wrote a letter to Gary noting that `very few people have the ability to `stick' with a project as long as you have.''

 Special Notes:

“In This Place.”  Wasn’t that a great video we saw on Sunday!  Watch it here.  It was a pictorial celebration of our first five weeks in the new Sunday morning schedule.  Our thanks to Michael Goodman and Tim and Judi Raymund for all the camera work, and a big “Thank You!” to Steve Williams for setting it all to the song, “In This Place”!  Paul Waldo formatted it for viewing on our website.

Bible Study Leaders BBQ!  Attention all leaders in our Bible study ministry!  Set your calendars for June 4, 5:30-7:00 p.m.  You’ve already received an invitation to our BBQ and Rally.  The rally is built around a “Hee-Haw” theme, so expect a lot of corny jokes and great fellowship.

I.N.V.I.T.E. Strategy Seminar.  Sunday, June 11, 5:30.  Help us promote this important seminar, and plan to attend.  You’ll get fresh motivation and important information on how to be “fishers of men” in your own circles of relationships.
