“Hillcrest Generations”

Hillcrest has the joy of serving four generations of adults, not to mention the generations of youth and children coming up behind us! This offers some unique challenges when trying to arrange activities, budgets, and worship services!
Over the next few weeks, I want to introduce you to the joys and challenges facing our multi-generational church.
As Hillcrest Leaders, it’s important that you keep in mind the things the generations have in common and the things that make the generations different. It will make you wiser in evaluating changes, how fast we should make changes, and
why we need to make them.
For starters, this week I want to give you a list called “How Young Adults See the World.” Next week I’ll give you a list called “How Senior Adults See the World.” Sometime between now and the next two weeks, maybe you can get me
started on “How Median Adults See the World”!
How Young Adults See the World
"Ctrl + Alt + Del" is as basic as "ABC."
Bert and Ernie are old enough to be their parents.
An automatic is a weapon, not a transmission.
There has always been a screening test for AIDS.
Banana Republic has always been a store, not a puppet government in Latin America.
Computers have always fit in their backpacks.
They have never gotten excited over a telegram, a long distance call, or a fax.
Test tube babies are now having their own babies.
Stores have always had scanners at the checkout.
They have always had a PIN number.
They have never been able to find the "return" key.
Directory assistance has never been free.
There has always been Lean Cuisine.
There have never been dress codes in restaurants.
Michael Eisner has always been in charge of Disney.
Gas has always been unleaded.
Rock and Roll has always been a force for social good.
Food for thought! Pray for our ministry to young adults (College, Singles 1, Adult 1, and Adult 2).
