“An Exciting Start”

Hillcrest got busy at the start of this new year! Let me count the ways:
What a great turnout for our study, “Finding God in The Lord of the Rings!” Over
The Response Team is getting busy at the end of our services. People are coming to the Response Team to join the church, and parents are bringing their children down so the children can tell us they have become Christians and
want to be baptized. But in 2004 I believe our own members will also come forward asking Response Team members to pray for them about various things. Don’t miss out on the power of prayer! Put the Response Team to work on
your concerns!
Our Discover Hillcrest classes are taking off, too. For those considering membership, this class provides the information they need about salvation, baptism, spiritual growth, and church priorities. Recently, nine
adults completed Discover Hillcrest classes and will soon be presented for membership, three by baptism! In addition, five children just completed a Discover Hillcrest Kids class with our Children’s Minister, BJ Linam, and
she is contacting the parents to discuss baptism plans. We will eventually have a Discover Hillcrest Youth class. For now, middle-school and high-school students are encouraged to join me in the adult version of Discover
Hillcrest.
Speaking of things for youth, keep our Youth Minister Search Committee in prayer. The committee is meeting every Monday night—conducting phone interviews, discussing resumes, reviewing reference information, and praying for
God’s leadership. This is a hard-working committee! Two candidates we’ve recently interviewed really intrigue us, so keep us in prayer!
Our Spring semester of Discipleship Training begins. Log on to www.HillcrestAustin.org/discipleship for information about our classes. You can even register online!
Whew! That’s just a small part of our busy church—and I haven’t even mentioned events that begin in two weeks: our Friend Day in Sunday School, our A.W.E.S.O.M.E. Club for Kids, and our new sermon series on managing conflict! All of
that begins on February 1, so be watching for more details. Don’t miss these chances to grow in Christ!
