Here is this week's WINNING WAYS . . . .

“Summertime Checkup”
by Tom Goodman

I am enjoying my chance to be a “guest teacher” in the various adult Sunday School departments.  I’ve developed a three-week lesson plan and I’ve taken it into three departments so far.  Together we’ve looked at the PLAN of our salvation, the PURPOSE of our life, and the PARTNERSHIP of our church.  It’s vital material, and I have two more departments lined up to hear the material in June and July.

This past Sunday I was in Adult 3 where we reviewed the four purposes God expects us to fulfill, using the acronym “H.I.L.L.” – HONOR the Lord of Life, INVITE Your World to Life, LOVE the Fellowship for Life, and LIVE the Word in Life.  I asked the group to indicate which one of those four most needed development during the upcoming summer months.

Why not do that yourself?  Take a moment to reflect on the four purposes God expects us to fulfill and commit to use the summer months to work on your weakest area:

Is it the HONOR area—developing heartfelt worship, consistent prayer, and faithful stewardship?
Is it the INVITE area—developing authentic relationships with prebelievers and learning how to comfortably share your faith?
Is it the LOVE area—developing closer relationships with fellow believers and a more faithful commitment to your church?
Is it the LIVE area—developing a better knowledge of the Word and greater dependence on the Spirit?
Why not choose one area and ask God to help you develop a “summertime strategy” to improve in that area!

My thanks to Jim Siegel and all those who made this past Youth Sunday a great day!  I’ve received many fine words of appreciation from folks who enjoyed the student involvement in the various Sunday School classes and the worship services.  Thanks, Jim—we’re glad to have you aboard!
