Here is this week's WINNING WAYS . . . .

“Easter Excitement”
by Tom Goodman

Our Easter Celebration is just around the corner (April 11)!  At Hillcrest, we’re preparing for it with gifts, responsibilities, and prayer requests.

Your Easter Gifts.  We have purchased hundreds of copies of Lee Strobel’s new book, The Case for Easter.  Adults attending Sunday School at 9:30 on April 11 will receive a free copy of this book—members and guests!  Adults working in the youth and children’s Sunday School departments will get this book, too.  In addition, our children’s classes (grades 1-5) are preparing their own backdrops for Easter photo portraits!  Every child attending Sunday School at 9:30 on Easter will sit for a free photo portrait.  The photos will be ready the next week, April 18, or will be mailed.

In addition to free gifts for those attending Sunday School, we have another gift for first time guests to Easter worship at 8:15 or 10:45.  They will receive a complete tape set of our series, Experiencing the Passion of the Christ, which will include the Easter message.

This is a perfect day to bring your friends!  Not only will they get introduced to your great Sunday School class and experience the power of worship—they will also walk out with an armload of helpful gifts!  Next week’s Winning Ways will be designed as an invitation to our Easter Celebration, and it will include our available gifts, so plan on forwarding next week’s edition to your friends.

Your Easter Responsibilities.  A credit card company once advertised with the slogan:  “Membership has its privileges.”  As a Hillcrest member, you have privileges, too—you have the privilege of serving!  Show your willingness to serve our Easter guests by doing three things:  First, we need 75 cars to park in the Anderson High School lot and use our shuttle.  You can drop your family and guests at the church before you drive up to the Anderson lot where a friendly van driver will get you to the church on time.  Second, we need 150 of you who normally attend the 10:45 service to come to the 8:15 service on Easter.  Our full choir will be singing in both services April 11.  Third, introduce yourself to seven people on Easter.  Make a personal commitment that you will not “hang” with your regular gang until you’ve done this!

Your Easter Prayers.  This week we’re mailing 10,000 invitations to the church’s ZIP code area.  Pray that those invitations will be effective!  Pray for our members who will be inviting guests to come with them.  Pray for the guests you intend to bring.  Pray that the glory and grace of Jesus will shine through the two services.

I’m looking forward to seeing what God will do this Easter at Hillcrest!

Tom

Important Notes:

Daylight Savings Time is this weekend.  Before bed on Saturday, April 3, be sure to set your clock FORWARD one hour!
Veggie Tales Easter Party is this Sunday, April 4, from 4-6 p.m.  A great children’s experience!  Go to www.HillcrestAustin.org for more information.
Two Sermon Series Continue April 4.  This Sunday morning at 8:15 or 10:45, our eight-week series, Getting Along, concludes with a look at how a greater trust in God’s justice and providence can help us deal with conflict.  Our evening series also continues at 6:30 p.m. this week—Experiencing the Passion of the Christ.  We’ll answer the question, “Did It Really Happen?”  Come gain a new appreciation for the historical reliability of your Bible.
